Chiropractors and Medical Doctors

CHIROPRACTORS AND MEDICAL DOCTOR RELATIONSHIPS

Do medical doctors refer chiropractors? Yes, there are many obstetricians, pediatricians and family doctors referring patients for chiropractic care as they see the benefits of spinal adjustments. They recognize that this is out of the scope of their practice. Medical Doctors also are careful when referring a Chiropractor as they want to ensure that their referral is a chiropractor who can “help”?
Why is there Medical Doctor Objection to chiropractors? The simple problem is that chiropractors and physicians simple don’t communicate. At Tannenbaum chiropractic we have acquired the latest digital X-Ray technology which makes it even easier for us to communicate with your primary care physician.
Are chiropractors anti-medical doctors? NO, Dr. Tannenbaum recognizes the important role that a medical doctor plays in your family’s health and believes in a team approach. When you, your son or daughter needs medical attention, that’s where we will encourage you to go. Chiropractic care has many, many valuable benefits in maintaining health, but we recognize the importance of your primary care physician in also maintaining your health.
Are chiropractors anti-drug? The body has an amazing ability to heal itself and we recognize that a body that is functioning properly will not need drugs. There are thousands of cases where patients have been able to drop their drug usage with the help of chiropractic treatments. We are not anti-drug; BUT the decision to use or discontinue medications or over-the-counter drugs is between the patient and their primary care physician.

Why Tannenbaum Chiropractic? We are here to “help” and with over 25 years treating spinal and neck injuries, our Beverly Hills Chiropractic office has earned the respect of many family care doctors and medical specialist in Los Angeles. Tannenbaum Chiropractic receives many referrals from UCLA, Cedar Sinai and USC medical centers and reason is because we are different. The office is different, our approach is different, and when you are here it is all about YOU!

ARE YOU PROACTIVE OR REACTIVE

“Aware, compassionate, conscious, receptive, sensible, sensitive, acknowledging, alive”

Are you Proactive or Reactive when it comes to your health?
  • Proactive people regularly schedule appointments, even when they’re not in pain, with the overall goal of maintaining good health. They are proactively taking preventative measures to keep themselves in tip-top shape.
  • Reactive folks come to see us when they’re in pain and want relief. They’re reacting to an uncomfortable issue or symptom
Being called “Reactive” doesn’t feel too nice does it? Let’s look at some other definitions of the word “Reactive” - aware, compassionate, conscious, receptive, sensible, sensitive, acknowledging and alive.

Yes it is true that proactive folks are those that come in on a regular basis typically end up healthier, happier and with far fewer issues health problems; but many of these “proactive” folks didn’t start off gung-ho frequent chiropractic maintenance aficionados. Their first visit to the chiropractor was “Reactive”, they had pain and needed help.

Being a “Reactive” individual isn’t a bad thing; you are reacting to pain in your body and we can help. We will listen to what you tell us, do a complete examination and through chiropractic, acupuncture, massage and a little coaching, we will help you feel better. In fact you will feel so much better that you will continue to come in even when you are not in pain, to maintain your good health.

AND WE WILL HELP!
And want to know something cool? You will become “Proactive” when it comes to your health and you will feel really good.

See you soon,

When is your Doctor more than just a Doctor?

Back Pain Specialist

These days the internet is every where and patients are more likely to trust the internet than their doctor. "...I read it on the internet", now substitutes for research.
I hear the following a lot.
  • Conventional medicine is just that: Conventional, mainstream, conformist.
  • Drugs are scary
  • Vaccines contain scary-sounding ingredients like aluminum and formaldehyde
  • Natural remedies are natural so they must be safe
  • You don't want chemicals in your body
  • Acupuncture has been around seemingly forever
  • Real Doctors don't like chiropractors
The reality is unless you have someone you can trust, the internet might seem like a more trust worthy option. Each statement above is both true and false, but it takes someone you trust to decipher what is true and what is false.
We have always taken a different approach at Tannenbaum Chiropractic. Unlike other Doctors office, I make sure that we develop a relationship of trust and understanding; whether discussing your health or discussing your family vacation, every patient is treated like a friend. Not only do we work closely with your physician if necessary, but we also will provide you accurate information.
The world can be a scary place and information is out of control. Our office is offers chiropractic, acupuncture and massage therapy with the sole purpose of making you feel better.
Feeling better is about understanding your situation, knowing the facts and having someone you can trust. Every patient of ours is more than just a patient, in the same way that I am more than just a Doctor.
If you are in the Beverly Hills area, come visit Tannenbaum Chiropractic, let's get you checked out, let's chat about your health and let's start making you feel better today.

Back Pain, Myths and Facts

The Truth About Back Pain

It might be a sharp stab. It might be a dull ache. Sooner or later, most of us will have back pain. Back pain myths are almost as common. Here are some myths and facts about back pain.

Myth: Always Sit Up Straight

Slouching is bad, but sitting up too straight and still for long periods can also be a strain on your back. Take breaks a few times a day.  Lean back in your chair with your feet on the floor and let your back curve slightly. Make time during your day to stand and release pressure of your back.

Myth: Don't Lift Heavy Things

It's not necessarily how much you lift, it's how you do it. Get directly in front of the object. Squat close to it, with your back straight and head up. Stand, using your legs to push up the load and your arms to hold it close to your middle. Don't twist or bend your body, or you may hurt your back. (Of course you shouldn't pick up anything that might be too heavy for you.)

Myth: Bed Rest Is the Best Cure

Yes, resting can help a recent injury or strain that causes back pain. Try to get a full 8 hours of sleep per night. Get used to the dark again; cellphone, television, light coming through a window does not allow the body or mind to rest; but a day or two in bed can actually make it worse.

Fact: More Pounds, More Pain

As you might guess, extra pounds will put stress on your back. Back pain is most common among people who are out of shape, especially weekend warriors who push themselves hard after sitting around all week.

Myth: Exercise Is Bad for Back Pain

Regular exercise prevents back pain. Doctors may recommend exercise for people who have recently hurt their lower back. They'll usually start with gentle movements and gradually build up the intensity. Once the immediate pain goes away, an exercise plan can help keep it from coming back.

Jay Palladino, Acupuncture and Physical Therapy

Fact: Acupuncture Helps Ease Pain

Meet Jay. Jay is LA's premier physical therapy and sports acupuncturist. Acupuncture and cognitive-behavioral therapy may help when seeking relief along with standard chiropractic care. Jay brings a combination of Acupuncture and Physical Therapy to treat your pain.

Fact: Chiropractic Care Can Help

Treatment guidelines from the American College of Physicians and the American Pain Society recommend that patients and doctors consider other options with proven benefits for low back pain. These include spinal manipulation (chiropractic), acupuncture and massage therapy.
